Saint Barbatus
Today, Saint Barbatus invites us to look honestly at our hearts.
He lived in a time when people tried to hold on to old habits while claiming a new faith. Outwardly, they believed—but inwardly, they clung to what was comfortable. Isn’t that often true for us? We want growth, but we resist change. We want God, but we also want control.
Barbatus did not shame people into holiness. He called them higher. He trusted that hearts could change. And they did.
Today’s quiet invitation is simple:
What is one small “idol” in my life that needs to be let go?
It may not be a statue or shrine. It might be pride. It might be resentment. It might be the need to always be right. It might be fear of letting God lead.
Conversion is rarely dramatic. Most days, it is subtle. It happens in the moment we choose patience instead of irritation. Forgiveness instead of replaying an old wound. Trust instead of anxiety.
Saint Barbatus reminds us that real faith is not divided. God does not ask for part of our hearts—He asks for all of it. And when we surrender fully, peace follows.
Today, choose one small act of surrender.
Let that be your quiet offering.
