Ash Wednesday Reflection

Today, we take our annual pilgrimage into the desert. Therefore, Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, deserves a special reflection.

Today’s reflection comes to us from Fr Jim O’Shea, a Provincial of the Passionists (C.P.), a three-hundred-year-old order founded by St Paul of the Cross. What better order to receive inspiration from as we step toward Christ’s Passion this season.

Faithful to the charism of St. Paul of the Cross, the Mission of the Passionists is to keep alive in the world the love of Jesus Crucified as seen in His Sacred Passion. This mission is rooted in prayerful community life and is expressed in collaborative ministry to the people of God in all walks of life, especially to the poor and suffering.

Father Jim lives this mission as a priest in the world, through Reconnect Brooklyn a mission he founded that engages young people through entrepreneurship, education, and service.

Passionist Fr Jim O'Shea has a different take on what Lent is asking of us. Watch this special Ash Wednesday reflection that allows Lent to be an opportunity to examine what's right about us….That is the important interior work on the journey to an attentive heart.

We’re excited to present Fr Jim’s exclusive reflection for Ash Wednesday. We are sure you will enjoy! If you haven’t already. Subscribe to our reflections below and be the first to receive Fr Jim’s upcoming podcast episode!
