Saint Scholastica

Saint Scholastica, sister of Saint Benedict, teaches us that a heart rooted in love has great power with God. When her brother wished to leave her side to return to his monastery, Scholastica chose prayer over argument. Her prayer, born not of stubbornness but of deep love and longing for God’s presence, was answered in a way that changed the course of the moment—and revealed the strength of holy desire.

Today, Saint Scholastica invites us to examine how we pray. Do we approach God with trust and simplicity, or do we rely too heavily on our own plans and rules? Scholastica shows us that God listens attentively to prayers that flow from humility, love, and sincere longing for communion.

Her life reminds us that prayer is not about control, but about relationship. When our hearts are aligned with God’s will, even the quietest prayer can move heaven.

Today, Saint Scholastica invites us to slow down and remain present—to God, to others, and to the moments we might otherwise rush past. She reminds us that time spent in loving attention is never wasted, and that God often works most powerfully when we choose relationship over productivity.

Daily Reflection Question:

Where in my life is God inviting me to trust more deeply and pray with greater love rather than insist on my own way?
